Award winning salon group and Scotland's colour experts, Rainbow Room International, celebrating it’s 40th year in business hosted a pop-up salon backstage over the three-day weekend at TRNSMT festival at Glasgow Green, providing haircuts and hairstyles to performing artists.
Rainbow Room International have previously styled hair at many high profile events including the MOBOs, the Scottish BAFTAs, The Scottish Style Awards and T in The Park, where they were resident hairdressers to the stars for fifteen years, before the gig rebranded to TRNSMT three years ago. The Rainbow Room International hair team kickstarted Scotland’s biggest and best Summer festival of the year pampering bands before their stage performance.
Over the three-day TRNSMT weekend at Glasgow Green headline acts Stormzy, Catfish and the Bottlemen and George Ezra were in attendance and the Rainbow Room International team styled the hair of some of the hottest acts and band members who came along to the pop up salon to have their hair tidied up, including Sundara Karma, The Snuts, The Hunna, Fontaines DC, The Amazons, Mystery Jets and Crica Waves.
Lead singer and guitarist, Ryan Potter from The Hunna opted for a neaten up on his undercut and trim by Director of Rainbow Room International Royal Exchange Square salon David Nicholson, and fellow band member and drummer of The Hunna, Jack Metcalfe had his hair braided by Kyla Colquhoun from the Rainbow Room International Buchanan Street salon, for a sleek look on stage. Band members from Sundara Karma and The Amazons were treated to trims and texture, with most opting for a messy grunge style using Schwarzkopf Professional products to create rockstar looks.
The weekend had a very chilled out and relaxed vibe but by the time the headliners took to the stage, the atmosphere was electric. The team had the pleasure of styling the hair of the stars and were able to meet some big names, including Mabel, Richard Ashcroft, Sigrid, Lewis Capaldi and Sam Fender. David Nicolson at Rainbow Room International commented, “We were thrilled to work backstage for the third consecutive year at Scotland’s biggest summer gig, TRNSMT Festival. It’s a fantastic opportunity for our Rainbow Room International team to get our name our there and continue to fly the flag of excellence for Glasgow. The salon was incredibly popular by the artists and their management teams and many artists were delighted to be able to get their hair looking its best before going on stage. All three days at TRNSMT were fantastic and we are looking forward to next year already.”
